【摘要】:Specimenstestedusingthisstandard,forexample,ductsilencers,areusedtocontrolsoundpropagationthroughventilationducts.Theresultsgatheredfromtestingspecimenstothisstandardcanbeusedtoestimatethereductioninfansoundlevelsinductedairflowsystemscausedbyincludingasoundattenuatingdeviceinthesystem.Thedevicecanbeacomponentinasource-path-receiveranalysiswherecalculationsareperformedtodeterminetheresultantsoundlevelinanoccupiedspace.Properselectionofasoundattenuatingdevicecanenableadesignertoachievein-spacebackgroundnoisecriteria.Theinsertionlossofasilencerisamatterofdegree,andvarieswithfrequencyandwiththedirectionandspeedofairflow.Becausesilencerspartiallyobstructtheairpathandprovideresistancetoairflow,twoothereffectsmustbequantified:pressuredropandairflow-generatednoise.Bothincreasewithincreasingairspeeds;thusdataarerequiredforseveralairflowstocorrectlycharacterizeperformance.Theaerodynamicresultsfromtestingspecimenstothestandardcanbeusedasinformationforthesystemdesignengineertodeterminetheamountofstaticpressuredropresistancetobeovercomebythesystemfan(s).Guidelinesforappropriatemaximumallowablepressuredropforasoundattenuatingelementhavebeenestablishedinthedesigncommunityandarebasedontheproceduresdescribedherein.Asstatedpreviouslyin1.5ofthistestmethod,theactualperformanceofasoundattenuatingdeviceasinstalledinanairductsystemmaybesignificantlydifferentthanreportedbasedonthetestprocedureherein.Thisstandarddoesnotprovideguidancetotheuseronthesesystemeffects.Silencersareoftendesignedtobeusedunderconditionswhichdonotduplicatethetestset-upsofthisstandard.Mock-upsandspecializedtestset-upstodetermineperformanceofsoundattenuatingdevicesinnon-standardconfigurationsmaybebasedonthistestmethodbutcannotbeconsideredtobeinfullconformancewiththistestmethod.SeeAnnexA2forfurtherinformationregardingsuchtests.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthelaboratorytestingofsomeoftheacousticalpropertiesofsoundattenuatingdevicesincludingductlinermaterials,integralducts,andin-ductabsorptivestraightandelbowsilencersusedintheventilationsystemsofbuildings.Proceduresaredescribedforthemeasurementofacousticalinsertionloss,airflowgeneratednoise,andpressuredropasafunctionofairflow.1.2Excludedfromthescopearereactivemufflersandthosedesignedforusesotherthaninventilationsystems,suchasautomobilemufflers.1.3Thistestmethodincludesaprovisionforasimulatedsemi-reflectiveplenumtofitaroundthin-walledductandsilencertestspecimens,sincetheacousticalenvironmentsaroundsuchthin-walledspecimenscanaffectthemeasuredinsertionloss.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4Thismethodteststheperformanceofthespecimeninwell-definedandcontrolledconditions.Ifthespecimenisinstalledinthefieldinanydifferentmanner,theresultsmaybedifferent.Thisstandarddoesnotprovideestimatingproceduresfordeterminingtheactualinstalledperformanceofthespecimenfieldconditions.
